Ananthavaram (Guntur): Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that all promises made during the bifurcation of the state be adhered to. The CM said that the punishment for cutting a tree was higher than for murder in Singapore so as to protect the environment, and stre-ssed the need to promote planting of trees in Amaravati. He expressed concern over the decreasing greenery and asserted the need of increasing greenery to at least 50 to 60 per cent for a good environment. He added that there is only 23 per cent greenery in AP which is something to worry about. Greenery should be increased in cooperation with DWCRA groups.

Talking about starting nurseries in all government high schools, he said that maintenance, promotion and marketing would be given to DWCRA groups. He said that saplings to industries, offices, houses, educational institutes and to the public would be supplied by DWCRA groups through the high school nurseries.
