After Prem Ratan Dhan Payo it’s time for another magnum opus to spread its wings into the regional market. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical Bajirao Mastani about the life, loves and battles of the Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu.
Expressing happiness over this development Bhansali says, “It is a welcome move. I think all Indian cinema is moving into a unified range of vision for the audience. We cannot say Kamal Haasan’s Thoonga Vanam is a Tamil film or Court is a Marathi film, although the spoken language is Tamil and Marathi. Indian cinema has evolved and so has the audience.” While being excited about his film’s expansion into multilingualism, he is also hoping the film’s cultural ethos remains unambiguous.
