Director Karu Palaniappan, known for his quality films, is back to acting with a new movie Kallan, which has a hard-hitting story. When directors donning grease paint was a fad in K’town a few years ago, Palaniappan on his part came out with a film Mandhira Punnagai where he played the lead hero besides directing it. The movie garnered good reviews.

Chandra, a noted writer and former associate of award winning filmmakers Ameer and Ram, makes her debut as the director with Kallan. She has worked on the intense script for many years. The story is said to shed light on hunters and their community who lived during the pre-agriculture period.  Tamil girl Nikitha from Delhi debuts in K’town playing the female lead. Namo Narayanan and Soundarraja are also part of the film. The movie started shooting recently in Kochi.
