Visakhapatnam: Environmentalists and environmental activists have planned a global climate march to create awareness on protection of environment and renewable energy on the Beach Road on Nov. 29. Former secretary to Government of India, E.A.S. Sarma, will flag off the rally at 6 am at Kali Matha temple on the Beach Road.

“We invite all the people of Visakhapatnam to join the march to give a loud message to our politicians that our common future is linked to quick shift to renewable energy and not on continued reliance on coal. Coal must be left in the ground for life to continue on the planet. The Global Climate march is snowballing into a massive mobilisation of millions around the world who want political leaders to do more to stop runaway climate change,” said J.V.  Ratnam, one of the organisers of the March.

More than 130 Peoples’ organisations (Avaaz, 350.org etc) have decided to hold Global Peoples’ Climate March in more than 150 countries simultaneously on Nov 29 2015, a day before the start of COP21 to bring pressure on the governments to agree to an equitable solution to climate crisis at Paris. Main issue of contention is limits on carbon emissions.
