Huawei unveils Mate 8 smartphone with 16MP camera, fingerprint sensor
The Mate 8 will be showcased at the CES expo 2016 in January
Huawei, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, launched the successor of the high-end Mate 7 smartphone, the Mate 8.
With a screen size of 6-inch, the Mate 8 sports a display with 1080p resolution, and a pixel density of 367ppi. Running on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, the smartphone is powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset, that comes with a quad-core Cortex A72 clocked at 2.3GHz, and a quad-core Cortex A53 clocked at 1.8GHz. It will be available in two variants, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
On the camera front, the Mate 8 features a 16MP Sony IMX298 camera on the rear, and an 8MP Sony IMX179 front camera. It is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery and is running the show with Huawei’s customised Emotion UI 4.0. Additionally, the Mate 8 features a fingerprint scanner nestled behind the camera module on the rear plate.
Nothing about the availability of the Mate 8 smartphone has been mentioned about Huawei yet, however they did say the smartphone will be showcased at the CES expo 2016 in January.
