Chennai: The death of a 31-year-old housewife from Chennai in Kerala due to cardiac arrest, triggered the death of three others during the last 40 days.
Her mother died the same day while her husband and sister in Chennai committed suicide in a hotel on Rajiv Gandhi Salai at Egattur near the city on Thursday.
The Kelambakkam police here identified the two persons who committed suicide in the hotel by consuming an overdose of sleeping pills as Advait Menon, 35, and his wife’s sister Lakshmi Menon, 28. The deceased were residents of apartment complex L & T Eden Park at Thazhamboor, off OMR.
It all started when Parvathy Menon, wife of Advait Menon, a native of Thrissur, Kerala, who runs an online consultancy firm on his own in Chennai, went to meet her parents at Vaikom in Kottayam, Kerala last month.
Her father Somasekhara Menon and mother Mini Menon, 52, had come to Kerala for a month-long vacation from Kuwait, where Menon ran his business. On October 17,
Mini Menon suffered a stroke. In the shock, her daughter Parvathi Menon suffered a heart attack. Parvathi died in a hospital next day morning . When she came to know about the death of Parvathi, Mini died of cardiac arrest at around 11 am on the same day.
Later, Parvathi’s husband Advait Menon and her sister Lakshmi were grief stricken. Kelambakkam police said they recovered a suicide note typed in English from the room where the two were staying.
The note said they were ending their lives because of grief over the death of Mini Menon and Parvathi. They had consumed as many as 50 tablets and both bodies were found in sitting position.
