In Italy, no elephant for jumbo wedding
Rs 140 crore were spent on the marriage
Florence: Dubai-based Indian millionaire Yogesh Mehta has just splashed a record Rs 140 crore on son Rohan’s big day. Rohan Mehta reportedly married Roshni — a London-raised owner of a fashion company — in the company of over 500 guests at a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy.
Rohan is the only son of Yogesh Mehta, owner of Petrochem — a Dubai-based company founded in 1995 which is also described as a “chemicals supermarket”. Mehta Sr. is reportedly worth $623million.
According to the Daily Mail, the three-day wedding started on Wedn-esday this week with guests being flow in from all parts of the world at put at some of Florence’s top hotels.
Celebrations were planned to culminate at the city’s famous All Saints Square but Florence’s city council objected to the idea of the groom arriving atop an elephant.
The council is believed to have cited health and safety concerns and animal welfare rules while refusing the request.
Mehta Sr. — known as Yogi on Twitter— recently posted news of the wedding on his social media stream. “Our son Rohan will marry his sweetheart Roshni on 27 November 2015 in Florence, Italy. A magical RORO wedding!,” he wrote.
