Palakkad: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that the SN Trust was ready to sign a pact with the government for making appointments in all the aided-educational institutions owned by it through the PSC provided the minority communities are ready for it.
He said this in an apparent reply to Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan’s allegations of bribe received by the educational institutions under the SN Trust.
He was speaking at the Kotta Maidan here as part of his Samathwa Munetta Yatra on Friday. The SNDP Palakkad unit distributed handouts at the function citing that the Christian managements have 4,198 aided-educational institutions, Muslims 1,595, NSS 748, Ezhavas 368 and others 1,064 in the state.
Unit secretary K.R. Gopinath told DC that the data was collected from the state education department by filing an RTI request.
Mr Natesan said that the Hindu population which was 65 per cent at the time of Independence had gone down to 55 per cent owing to family planning and religious conversion. The yathra will enter Thrissur on Saturday.
