Bengaluru: A day after sharing his distress over writers withdrawing from the Bangalore Literature Festival, one of the founders of the festival, Vikram Sampath on Saturday decided to step away from all responsibilities of organising the Festival.

Mr Sampath on his Facebook page wrote, “Over the past few days, I seem to have become the target of a personalised campaign that I believe is for two reasons. First, my personal viewpoint on why I do not subscribe to the ‘Award Wapsi’ campaign. Second, my stance on the recent Tipu Sultan controversy."

He said, “I am listed as a panelist in the festival. If the organisers want me to speak, I am happy to be there. Else, I will enjoy the sessions from home via live-streaming!”

He concluded saying the protesting authors can take part in the festival now, as he has withdrawn.
