Chennai: Ahead of the inner election (in December), the state unit of the BJP got a senior RSS leader to head the BJP as its organising general secretary. The move is aimed at firming up the saffron party for the Assembly election. Also, the party has evolved its own roadmap of caste groups and their voting pattern and is all set to consolidate these groups to strengthen the NDA.

The nomination of Kesava Vinayagam as state organising general secretary, replacing S. Mohanrajulu who has been made state general secretary, will help to strengthen the party at grassroots. Vinayagam is known for his abilities to work out strategies and has been a dedicated RSS worker. Mohanrajulu would be entitled to contest in the party’s inner election to be held next month and in the general elections at a later period. Party senior and national executive committee member L. Ganesan who had held this key post went on to become the state chief and had contested in Assembly and LS polls in the past.
