Hyderabad: A former BSNL employee who owned the now defunct Friends Club in  Champapet area was murdered allegedly by his brother and three others.   The assailants attacked Srinivas Babu, 50, with knives. Financial disputes appear to have led to the murder.

Police said Srinivas started the club after his retirement but the government closed it down. On Sunday evening, he along with four of his friends were sitting and chatting in the club premises. “Suddenly his brother Subhash and three unknown persons came there, stabbed  Srinivas with knives and fled the place,” said Saidabad inspector Srinivas Rao.

His friends at the spot informed police and tried to shift him to hospital, but he died on the spot. A murder case has been registered  based on a complaint from his wife Prameela.

Srinivas is survived by a  son studying in New Zealand, a daughter studying medicine and another  daughter doing her MBA.
