Kid among 20 injured in stray dog attack

Dogs not only bite those were in the open places but entered house and pounced on kids

Kannur: As many as 20 people, including a 3.5 year old girl had suffered stray dogs attack in and around Azheekode in Kannur on Sunday morning. Hifa, daughter of Ashraf at Kappakadavu in Kannur suffered grave injury on her face while she was playing in the courtyard of house.

After given treatment at district hospital she was soon shifted to Kozhikode medical college hospital. She had been advised to undergo plastic surgery.

The others who suffered attack include Padmini (60), Anagh Darsh, Sameera (38), Krishnan (72), Lakshmi (70), Rajesh (31), Sheeba (37), Misha, Prabhakaran, Rajani (66), Jins (35).

Three from Uttar Pradesh, Jayakishan (30), Lakshmana (37), Anil Yadav (32) who are sand mining workers too bore the brunt.

People are in fear in Azheekode, Kappakkal, Moonunirathu areas due to strays. After the spreading of dog attack incidents on Sunday, many put inside home.

Dogs not only bite those were in the open places but entered house and pounced on kids. Azheekode gram panchayat president C. Prasanna said that panchayat council meet would address the issue with immediate priority and heaping of waste from slaughter houses is a major concern.
