Pro-Seema stir is on rise in social media
The social media was also mobilising activists of NRIs over injustice
Anantapur: Pro-Rayalaseema agitation is on the rise through social media. Many groups and organisations were creating awareness and involving even NRIs to support their movement.
Mr Sesha Murthy, a na-tive of Perur in Rama-giri mandal of Ananta-pur district has been on a mission of creating awareness among the netizens from his village. Mr Murthy, a retired postal employee is working out on social me-dia such as Facebook, Wh--atsapp and other media to create awareness amo-ng the people on genuine cause of Rayalaseema development.
"We have seen many issues of Rayalaseema even before Independence, but they were still burning at various stages," Mr Murthy recalled and added even the Perur reservoir had filled for only four times after completion of construction. This was not only irrigation project, the region was badly neglected during all the decades since British ruling, he lamented and observed that only Vijayanagar empire of Sri Krishnadevaraya had initiated to improve irrigation facilities of Rayalaseema about five centuries ago.
Prof. K. Sadasiva Reddy of Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, who led a pro-Rayalaseema agitation from the university, noticed that state and central governments were still failing to mitigate situation in the backward Rayalaseema.
"The routine protests were being neglected, we have decided to use social media as a force to change the mindset of governments to take positive decisions towards the region," Mr Reddy said. The social media was also mobilising activists of NRIs over injustice to the region.
Balu, a software engineer and NRI from Madakasira in Anantapur district shocked after knowing the worse situation prevailed in the region. "I came to know the original picture through regular messages of social media", the NRI said.
Rayalaseema Parirak-shana Samiti founder Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy noticed that people hailing from Rayalaseema were expressing their concern towards the mother land.
