Telangana: Citizens call to rescue peacocks
Peacocks are being poisoned by polluted water
Hyderabad: The Telangana forest department has received a number of calls about injured or dead peacocks. The forest department received 491 calls in six months, of which nearly 300 were for wildlife rescue. Nearly half these calls were for snake catching, and a majority of the rest were about peacocks being found injured or dead.
A forest official said the department received many calls from colonies located in Cyberabad about peacocks being found injured or electrocuted as they get entangled in electrical wires. Peacocks are being poisoned by polluted water.
