Three killed, five injured as cars collide on ORR
The bodies were handed over to the family after postmortem
Hyderabad: Three members of a family including the manager of a private bank died and five others suffered serious injuries in an accident on ORR near Himayatsagar area on Saturday night.
Vijay Kumar who was driving the car lost control, hit the divider and jumped to the other side of the road and rammed another car. The incident happened when the deceased people were returning to Hyderabad.
Geeta Rani, 45, her relative, Vijay Kumar, 26, who was working as a private bank manager, relative Tanuja, 40, and Pooja, 18, daughter of Geeta's sister, went to Addanki on Friday, to attend a function at Geeta’s elder daughter’s house. When the car reached Sana Function Hall in Himayatsagar area, Vijay lost control and hit the divider. “Later, the car jumped to the other side of the road and rammed another car,” said inspector V. Umender. Md. Shafi, 50, and his family were in the other car going towards Vijayawada. Geetha Rani, Tanuja and Vijay Kumar died on the spot, while Pooja, Shafi and his family suffered serious injuries. They were shifted to hospital. Police suspect that speeding and drowsiness may have caused the accident.
A case under 304-A (accidental death) and 337 (causing hurt) were registered. The bodies were handed over to the family after postmortem. Pooja's condition is said to be critical.
