People don’t like women with guts in this industry: Anushka Sharma
The actress doesn't mince her words and is vocal about her opinions
Mumbai: Anushka Sharma is one woman who doesn't mince her words and has always expressed her opinions vocally. In an interview with Anupama Chopra, the actress spoke about sexism, producing films, Virat Kohli and everything in between.
Anushka spoke about the roles being offered to woman in Bollywood, she said, "Girls are just expected to be good looking, look nice and adjust be interesting enough for a guy to be interested in you in a film. Women only come along when there is a boy involved, if there’s a love triangle or something like that."
She went on to talk about being treated differently, “Growing up, my parents treated my brother and me with absolute equality. I was never treated differently. I never felt like I was lesser or I was discriminated against. I’ve only experienced that after I became an actor. I was very young when I became an actor, I was 19 years old. But dheere dheere, in my experience with the industry, I started to see the differences. It’s a mindset thing. We talk about how in small towns women get discriminated against, but it happens even here. It’s very, very apparent.”
