Hyderabad: A man killed his brother on Sunday following a dispute over a 200 yard piece of family land in Kurmaguda area of Saidabad.

The ancestral land was registered in the name of the victim R. Srinivas, and he along with his brother R. Subhash had built a house on it.

Subhash revealed to the police that he had loaned Rs 25 lakh to his brother but he had not repaid him and had even mortgaged the land documents for his own needs.

Subhash, 53, is an employee of the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory at Kanchanbagh. The family owns ancestral property of 20 square yards in Kurmaguda, which was divided among four brothers. Subhash had purchased the share of one brother while Srinivas had purchased the share of another brother.

“Since the land was registered on his name, Srinivas mortgaged the documents for his financial needs, but did not clear the loan. Subhash pressurised him many times to pay the loan, but he did not listen,” said East Zone Commissioner V. Ravinder.

As result, Subhash hatched a plan to get rid of his brother and acquire the share in the building. On Sunday evening at around 6.30 pm, Subhash, along with his associates B. Dharmender Singh, a driver from Bandlaguda, Arvolla John, a driver from Shamshabad, Vadla Satish Kumar Chary, a carpenter and Gajjala Kiran, a plumber, stabbed Srinivas to death with daggers near Malla Reddy Complex in Sagar road in Champapet area.

Police has arrested the five and seized two daggers and two bikes from them. The accused were sent to judicial remand and the body was handed over to the family after a post mortem.
