Chennai: Half-yearly exams put off till January

Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s coastal districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Nagapattinam continued to receive heavy rains without a break for more than 16 hours.
Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, who convened an urgent meeting with the state top brass to reviewe relief arrangements, also announced the postponement of half year examinations for school students scheduled in December to the first week of January (2016).
She directed her ministers to expedite monsoon relief work by visiting their respective districts. Reviewing the status of 89 major reservoirs in TN and the inflow, Ms Jayalalithaa ordered release of water from 45 major dams.
