KANNUR: The Kannur DCC has agreed to reinduct  rebel councillor P.K. Ragesh and seven of his supporters into the party at  Pallikunnu paving the way for wresting the  corporation mayor post from the CPM after six months.

This was decided at  a meeting held by  the DCC leaders with Mr Ragesh.  According to sources,  he   had put up nine demands before the DCC and the KPCC committee headed by minister K.C. Joseph.

Two among them-- transfer of district cooperative joint registrar K. Surendran and town police sub-inspector Sanal Kumar-- have  already been met following  a meeting held between Mr  Ragesh and senior leader K. Sudhakaran.

Mr Ragesh will support the UDF in the election to the posts of permanent standing committee presidents in the  corporation on Wednesday.  With his support, the UDF  can fetch seven posts.

The UDF can bring in a no-confidence motion against the CPM mayor  after six months. “All the major issues between Ragesh and the party have  been sorted out,” said DCC president K. Surendran.
