Kerala High Court orders CBI probe into Smitha’s death

Kochi: Kerala High Court on Tuesday ordered a CBI probe into the death of Smitha, a native of Kochi in Dubai. Justice B Kemal Pasha has ordered the CBI probe taking into account the international ramifications of the case. The order was passed a case filed a person identified as George, a native of Kochi.
Smitha has gone missing in Dubai in 2006 when she went there to join with her husband identified as Antony, a native of Thoppumpady.
Dubai police located dead body of a woman of the description of Smitha, from a hospital at Sharjah. It was alleged that the body was dumped by the husband of Smitha.
The dead body is preserved at the mortuary in Sharjah. The Crime Branch police team probing the case has arrested Antony and woman Devayani in connection with the case few months ago. Devayani has made statement under section 164 describing the role of Antony in the disappearance of Smitha.
