Nun found dead in well in Idukki
The slippers of the sister were found on the banks of the well that led to the suspicion
Kottayam: Liza Mariya, 42, a nun with the St Theresa’s convent at Ulupoonny at Vagamon in Idukki district was found dead in the well of the convent on Tuesday morning.
The police has registered a case for unnatural death. P.V. Manoj Kumar circle inspector of Peerumedu, who is supervising the investigation, indicated the possibility of a suicide.
Details of the cause of the death will be available only after the receipt of postmortem report, he said.
The well is having a depth of around 30 feet and it had water around the levels of 20 ft. Sister Maria, daughter of Sebastian of Aroocheriyil house of Upputhura in the district, was found dead in the well located around 30 metres away from the convent building.
The other inmates of the convent found her when they searched for her after she was found missing in the early morning prayers.

According to other inmates of the convent Sr Maria went sleep after offering prayers in the night. However she was absent for the morning prayers at the convent.
Sister Mariya was transferred to the St Theresa’s convent nearly a month ago. She was previously with another convent at Pulikunnam, said sources. Police is verifying the claims about the sister using anti-depressant medicines.
