IRCTC to dispatch one lakh Rail Neer bottles to Chennai
In the first lot, 60,000 one-litre Rail Neer bottles have been dispatched
New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will dispatch one lakh bottles of Rail Neer to Chennai, which is currently reeling under devastating floods.
"In the first lot, we have dispatched 60,000 one-litre Rail Neer bottles to the affected people of Chennai, who are facing one of the worst natural calamities to hit the capital city of Tamil Nadu," said IRCTC CMD AK Manocha.
He said the bottles have been handed over to the corporation of Chennai and more such consignments will follow after assessing the requirements.
IRCTC, a PSU of railway, had supplied the packaged drinking water to the flood-affected people in Kashmir, the earthquake victims in Nepal and Maldivian capital of Male where that country's only desalination plant had caught fire.
IRCTC's five Rail Neer plants at Nangloi (Delhi), Danapur (Bihar), Palur (Chennai), Ambernath (Maharashtra) and Amethi - have a combined capacity of about 6.8 lakh litres of packaged drinking water a day.
