Johannesburg: Reeva Steenkamp's father said on Thursday he was "satisfied" after an appeal court judge found Oscar Pistorius guilty of murdering his daughter in a ruling that could see the Paralympian serve at least 15 years in prison.

"I'm satisfied with everything now," Barry Steenkamp told television reporters shortly after the judge threw out an early conviction for culpable homicide, or manslaughter.

"I would hope to God that all of this could have been prevented, but seeing that it has been done, let us now all get on with our lives."
