Nature does not differentiate between celebs and commoners. And Chennai’s torrential rains did not spare the affluent either. One of the areas in Chennai — Kodambakkam — headquarters for many film artistes and technicians — witnessed the same terrible flooding as some of the nearby areas. Water entered the ground floors of several actors’ houses and they had no choice but to shift to the first floors.

Some of the film studios, too, are in hip deep in water and shootings for the third consecutive day were stopped on Friday. Veteran actors like Lakshmi and Raj Kiran were earlier rescued by boat from their houses to a safer place. Meanwhile, we hear that Trisha’s house — which has a basement car park — has been flooded while actors Arya and Vishal’s residences are also surrounded by water.

Similarly, Suriya and Karthi’s houses, actress Namitha’s and veteran actress Vennira Aadai Nirmala’s bungalow and Rajinikanth’s house were flooded. Though Kushboo’s house in Foreshore Estate is surrounded by water, the actress-turned-politician reached out to nearby areas and distributed food packets and drinking water.

Actor Vivek’s house in Virugambakkam is also flooded. The actor, who is stuck in Hyderabad, Tweeted: “I am still held up at Hyderabad. No trains or buses or flights and no networks. Watching everything on TV and lamenting. Prayers.”
