Centre gives Rs 1,000 crore more to Tamil Nadu

The amount is in addition to the Rs 940 crore already released by the Centre

Chennai: “Tamizh Nadu makkal mazhaiyal padhikapattathai naan paarkiren. I have seen the damage and misery caused by the extremely heavy rainfall. The government of India stands by the people of Tamil Nadu in their hour of need,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Thursday after spending more than an hour reviewing relief efforts.
 
The PM announced the release of Rs 1,000 crore for immediate relief. The amount is in addition to the Rs 940 crore already released by the Centre. He discussed relief measures with the CM and governor.
