A delegation comprising TRS MPs met Mr Parrikar in New Delhi sought his cooperation.
Hyderabad: Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar will meet Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad soon to sort out various contentious issues betw-een his ministry and the state government.
He is expected to meet the CM either in the last week of January or the first week of February 2016. Issues such as closure of roads in Secunderabad Cantonment by military personnel, allotment of land in Cantonment (Bison Polo Ground) for building the new Secretariat, shifting of cantonments and defence establishments from the core areas of the city to the city outskirts have cropped up for the past few months.
The CM made repeated requests to the Centre and the defence ministry on these issues but there has been no response from them so far. A delegation comprising TRS MPs met Mr Parrikar in New Delhi on Thursday and sought his cooperation in resolving the issues in Secundera-bad Cantonment area and on defence lands. They urged him to convene a meeting with the CM to sort out these issues.
TS government special representative S. Venugopalachary said, “Mr Parrikar promised that he would personally visit Secunderabad Cantonment and interact with residents to know the problems being faced by them and meet the CM to resolve these issues. He also assured us that all pending issues with Telangana government would be sorted out during his meeting with the CM.”
