AMD plans new microprocessors
AMD is also keen to participate in the Make in India programme.
Hyderabad: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a global computer processing technology major, on Thursday said that it is planning new line of advanced microprocessors, said a top official of the company.
“We are planning to improve our market position in the processor segment along with being leaders in graphics, medical devices, servers, data centres and other segments. For this we are planning to venture into all these areas in the next year,” Mr Mark Papermaster, chief technology officer and senior vice president (technology and engineering), AMD.
In addition, AMD is also keen to participate in some of the initiatives of the government of India under the Make in India programme. “We have some strong investment plans to set up manufactuing unit if the talks materialise,” said Mr Papermaster.
AMD has two research centres in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with a headcount of 1,000.
