Burglars drill hole to steal from pawn broker shop in Bengaluru
The burglars made away with cash and silver articles worth over Rs 5 lakh.
Bengaluru: Burglars drilled a hole through a wall behind a pawn broking shop and made away with cash and silver articles worth over Rs 5 lakh, and property documents on Thursday night in Kurubarahalli under Basaveshawaranagar police limits.
They even made away with the CCTV camera and the digital video recorder from the shop. The police said that the complainant is still not sure of all the items stolen from the shop.
The theft came to light when the owner, Mangilal, came to the shop on Friday morning. The police suspect that the burglary may have been carried out by someone who knew the pawn broker or someone who has pledged their property with Mangilal, as property documents too have been stolen.
The police believe that the burglars have accessed the rear wall of the shop from a house behind the shop. “Mangilal owns that house. But it was lying vacant, as he has not been able to find tenants. As there was nothing else in the house, it was not kept locked,” the police said.
“Mangilal is yet to give us the list of items stolen and of people to whom he has lent money after keeping their documents,” said a senior police officer. A case has been registered at the Basaveshawaranagar police station.
