Mysuru: Former chief minister and JD(S) state president Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy said the party will be fielding 18-19 candidates in the Legislative Council polls and added that the list will be announced on December 6.
He was speaking to mediapersons after visiting the houses of VHP leader Kuttappa and Sahul Hameed who died in the Madikeri clash during Tipu Jayanti celebrations on November 10. He said Kolar-based industrialist Naresh will be fielded by JD(S) at Kodagu and will henceforth be part of regular party activities in the region.
“The Madikeri clash has created anxiety in Kodagu district. Tipu has been used for political gain. The Congress and BJP are directly responsible for the Madikeri clash,” he alleged.
He slammed the home minister for issuing an ‘irresponsible’ statement in the state Assembly that 5000-6000 people had come from Kerala during the Madikeri clash.
“If they had come here, why were they not arrested, why are only people of Kodagu being arrested? They are victimising innocent people. I will be writing to the home minister and the CM demanding a high-level inquiry in the case,” he said.
