Rs 526 crore sanctioned for tribal welfare

Kakinada: Social welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu said that Rs 526 crore has been sanctioned for uplifting tribals in the Agency area under the Coffee Project.
Participating as chief guest in Chandranna Loan Mela for Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes at Peddapuram mandal on Friday, the minister said that the government would directly purchase coffee nuts at a cost of Rs 190 per kilo by eliminating mediators.
Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that Rs 25,000 crore has been allocated for the welfare of SC/ST and BCs in the state. He said that Rs 100 crores of loans would be distributed to the SC/STs in the current financial year.
Panchayat Raj minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said that SC/ST colonies would be developed at a cost of Rs 700 crore in the state. Presiding over the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister and home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa called upon the SC/STs to set up industries by making use of the government schemes.
