New DelhiSouth Africa coach Russell Domingo was at a complete loss for words as the visitors stared at defeat — and a whitewash – in the final Test of the four-match series here on Friday.

“India’s bowlers have kept us under pressure continuously in this series,” said Domingo when asked for reasons for his team’s below par show on Day Two of the fourthand final match of the series at the Kotla on the day.

“We haven’t played as well as we can. It is not lack of effort or will, but things haven’t worked for us. “We haven’t played good cricket in the last couple of weeks, so no excuses.”

Reflecting on South Africa’s 121 in reply to the hosts’ 334, he said, “There were a few dismissals that could be deemed as soft but there were a few which were a result of some very good bowling. India deserve a lot of credit for bowling so well and we have to take responsibility for some soft dismissals.  “Also, one should not forget Ajinkya Rahane’s knock that changed things around.”
