Gitam inks MoU with foreign varsity
The pact will promote collaborative research in various areas
Visakhapatnam: Gitam University entered into an MoU with University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) to promote collaborative research, joint programmes and academic activities in the areas of international business, global logistics, international banking, astrophysics, entrepreneurship, etc. In this regard, an MoU was signed and executed between the two varsities here on Saturday on Gitam university campus.
Gitam University Registrar Prof. M. Potharaju and University of Virgin Islands academic affairs vice-president Dr. Camile McKayle exchanged the MoU document in the presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. Harinarayana.
While interacting with the UVI team, Gitam University Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. Harinarayana informed that the university is actively engaged in 160 research projects and also offering consultancy services to industries. He hoped the present MoU would help both the universities to take up inter-disciplinary projects involving the faculty and students.
UVI Vice Provost Dr. James Maddirala, Mathe-matics Department chairperson Dr. Robert Stolz, JNTU-H former Professor Dr. IV Muralikrishna and others were present.
Gitam University students take out awareness rally on GEM
Students of Gitam University took out a helmet awareness rally on the Beach Road here on Saturday in the run up to Gitam Excellence Meet-2015 to be held from December 11.
The 17th edition of the meet is getting bigger and better with close to 15,000 footfall expected, said Dean and Principal, Gitam Institute of Management Prof. K. Siva Rama Krishna. “The only way to experience this fest is to be a part of it,” he said.
“Smarter than Smart” is the theme of this year’s GEM, like it is a custom for the management to conduct the event centering on a theme. This theme is observed with respect to the Smart city initiative and Vizag being one of the initially elected cities towards this initiative. There are events planned around this theme.
