Man held for killing woman in Hyderabad
She was working as a daily wager
Hyderabad: A daily wager who allegedly tried to rape a pregnant woman and later killed her when she resisted him was arrested on Saturday. Police said that Kiran, a neighbour of the deceased Ramadevi, held a grudge against her as she had instigated some others who had attacked him, when he warned her to stop allowing other men from coming to her house.
Police said, the deceased B. Ramadevi 35, belonged to Raichur and had shifted to Hyderabad, along with her three-year-old daughter Sravanthi and was staying at a rented house in Budwel village. Her husband Sreenu died of a snake bite four years ago. She was working as a daily wager. Police said that Kiran, 25, who is her neighbour used to keep a watch on her movements.
“He warned her to avoid them. Angered at this, Ramadevi instigated the men who visited her and made them attack Kiran,” said Mailardevpally inspector S. Venkat Reddy.
On October 3 night when Ramadevi and her daughter were sleeping in their house Kiran barged in drunk. “He tried to rape her. She woke up and resisted. He bit both her breasts and strangled her,” the inspector said. Later, he fled. On Saturday morning, based on a tip off, police raided his house in the Katedan area and arrested him. He was sent to judicial remand.
