HyderabadThe sector-wise allocation of money to key sectors like power, agriculture, irrigation, industry etc and the actual amount spent in Telangana and Seemandhra regions would be compiled from 1956 to 2014 as part of the survey to determine the “political economy” of the state.

Besides, the revenue share contributed by the Telangana region to overall Andhra Pradesh and the share Telangana got in return in allocation of funds would also be determined.

Telangana planning commission vice chairman S.Niranjan Reddy said, “Telangana is in the process of re-orientation and this study will help to identify core sectors which contribute to the growth of the state’s economy. It will help the government to achieve focussed development, tap the resources and put them into optimum utilisation. It is not about political economy but finding the roots of Telangana economy.”

The government is planning to put the data compiled in the survey to extensive debate both in the Legislature and other public forums to showcase how Telangana was discriminated in united Andhra Pradesh and what needs to be done to achieve growth in the future in key sectors like power, industry, agriculture among others.
