Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party, on Sunday, announced the second list of eight candidates for Local Authorities constituencies which includes former JD(S) MLC Dr M.R. Hulinaykar for Tumakuru Local Authorities constituency.
Speaking to reporters after inducting Dr Hulinayakar into the BJP here, BJP state unit president, Pralhad Joshi said, “We welcome Dr Hulinaykar into our party fold and offered him the Tumkuru seat which he at present represents in the Legislative Council as Janata Dal (Secular) member.”
In response to a question, Mr Joshi retorted that it was not just for convenience that Dr Hulinaykar was inducted. As a matter of fact, the BJP's doors are wide open to all leaders who accept the party's cause and principles.
“We welcome everyone,” he said. He added that the party had decided to contest only 20 of the 25 seats as five districts in the state have two seats, in which the party is fielding only a single candidate.
“This is our policy decision so that voters do not get confused while voting in these twin-seat constituencies,” he added.
