Kakinada: The public have to pay a heavy price every time a minister, MP or MLA is invited to a function here. The VIPs arrive in a convoy and all the cars are parked in narrow streets and also main roads, obstructing the traffic. The police are unable to sort out this problem. Looks like these VIPs lack sensitivity and have a ‘don't care’ attitude towards the public.

“The VIP culture is growing day by day, with the political leaders causing great inconvenience to the common man who pays taxes regularly and has the right to travel in peace. With the current scenario it is a chaotic scene with huge pile ups and long wait for the roads to clear,” said A.P.J. Vinu, the eminent psychologist and International Corporate Trainer.

He said that there would be sick persons going to hospitals, pregnant women and ambulances that need to get to the hospital urgently. Yet everyone is put into inconvenience because of this attitude that sometimes can take a serious turn.

A MP attended a function at Nagamallithota at Kakinada and he and his followers parked their vehicles on the road in a haphazard manner blocking other vehicles.

This caused a great inconvenience to people, even senior citizens who were left bewildered and stressed out at the chaos around.

“When we were going to Samalkot for a darshan to Lord Shiva, the police stopped our bus for a long time on the pretext of giving way to ministers for two days. It has become a nuisance to the passengers,” said B. Nagaratnam, a 65-year-old devotee.

Kakinada Traffic DSP K.V. Satyanarayana said that he instructed the traffic personnel not to trouble people, when the VIPs attend meetings or functions.
