Karimnagar: Corridors of the Collectorate building have become a parking lot for employees of various departments. One can find motorbikes parked outside many departments on the ground floor of the building. This is causing inconvenience to the general public and employees who work in the collectorate.
This two-storied building houses offices of 38 wings belonging to different departments and located in the heart of the city. Several hundreds of people visit this massive complex for reporting grievances every Monday and any other day. At the same time, officials working in mandal centres and villages visit their departments.
Despite frequent instructions against this menace, staff members of certain departments are using corridors of the ground floor for parking their two-wheelers.
Postmen too enter the building on their bicycles for dispatching letters. They are not relying upon open lots identified near their offices for this purpose.
A security guard, who was deployed to control this and safeguard the building, is unable to stop workforce from using the corridors.
Consequently, people are unable to move freely on the corridors due to the presence of motorbikes.
They are angry about the obstruction especially at the time of Prajavani, a grievance redressal programme held on every Monday. Usually, the building registers heavy inflow during this programme.
“I instructed employees not to place their motorbikes on spaces available in front of their departments two months back. However, I will again instruct them not to park on walkways of collectorate,” stated T. Veerabrahmaiah, district revenue officer.
