Chennai, flavour of Indian victory

Ashwin and Man of the Match Ajinkya Rahane too remembered the flood victims.

New DelhiChennai has been reeling under the effects of devastating floods which has left many stranded and city’s infrastructure under serious damage. On Monday, India Test skipper Virat Kohli tried to put a “bring some joy to their lives” dedicating the team’s 3-0 series win over South Africa to the flood victims.
 
“I would like to dedicate this victory to the victims of the Chennai floods. Our thoughts are with them,” Kohli said after India wrapped up a 337-run win in the fourth and final Test here.
 
“These have been tough times for everyone including our team mates who were not able to get in touch with their families, and this is our effort to bring some joy to the people who have suffered.”
 
Man of the series Ravichandran Ashwin weathered a tough time on Day One of the fourth Test when he was not able to contact his parents for 24 hours before lines got through. Ashwin and Man of the Match Ajinkya Rahane too remembered the flood victims.
 
Said Rahane, who scored two hundreds in the match, “I would like to dedicate my award to the Chennai people who have suffered from the floods and Indian Army who is helping them out... this one is for them.” Ashwin, who finished with 31 scalps to pick up the man of the series award, said he would personally visit and help put the people.
