Bengaluru: Woman plunges to death from 90 feet high water tank
The incident came to light after a security guard of a nearby layout noticed her lying in a pool of blood.
BENGALURU: Depressed over petty quarrel with her husband, a 26-year-old woman plunged to her death from of a 90 feet high water tank in Nelamangala Rural Town on the city outskirts on Monday evening.
Vijetha, a daughter of Anand Kumar and a resident of Weavers Colony in Nirman Foundation Layout was staying with her parents. She got married six years ago to Naveen Kumar, a private company employee and a resident of Vijaynagar in Bengaluru.
The police said the incident took place around 6 pm after Vijeyta left home on her scooter without informing her parents. Investigations revealed that after leaving home, Vijeyta went to a nearby water tank in the colony, parked her vehicle and reportedly climbed the overhead water tank, said to be around 90 feet high.
She plunged to her death from the tank and the incident came to light after a security guard of a nearby layout noticed her lying in a pool of blood. He alerted the locals, who rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead. A local resident identified Vijeyta and immediately informed her parents, who rushed to the hospital.
“She was separated from her husband one year into the marriage following differences with him and she was depressed since, which could be reason to take this extreme step. Vijetha’s father had in his police complaint alleged that his daughter took the extreme step because of Naveen, following which we have registered a case of abetment to suicide under section 306 0f IPC against him,” said B Ramesh, SP Rural. The couple has a four-year-old daughter.
