Hyderabad: AP government’s proposal on selecting the capital city development partner in the Swiss Challenge method is facing rough weather from officials.

According to sources, AP infrastructure department secretary Ajay Jain has expressed doubts in the file. He asked to follow the Supreme Courts directions strictly while adopting the Swiss Challenge method.

A. Giridhar, when in the Municipal Administration department, also opposed the Swiss Challenge method. A senior official who worked in the finance department also opposed it in the review meetings conducted by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

In the file related to Swiss Challenge method, Mr Jain did not support it totally. A few days ago, finance department principal secretary P.V. Ramesh also circulated the Supreme Court directions in the Swiss Challenge method to all departments.

The Supreme Court said that the nature of the Swiss Challenge method and its particulars should be published in advance by the relevant authority. Three Singapore companies have submitted suo moto proposals on Amaravati development partner.

In fact, at present there is no specific master plan for the capital city Amaravati, the revised master plan will be submitted by Singapore by Dec 15.

According to SC directions, the authority concerned should publish the particulars of Amaravati development partner in advance but this was not done.

Some of the officials feel that in the name of Swiss Challenge method, the government wants to make Singapore-based companies as Amaravati development partners.
