BENGALURU: Former chief minister Sadananda Gowda, along with BJP MLA S.R. Vishwanath of the Yelahanka constituency and few government officials are in the dock after an RTI activist registered a complaint with the Lokayukta police on Tuesday.

Complainant Jayakumar Hiremath alleges that the politicians in collusion with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Tahasildar have allocated Gomala land measuring 10 acres to one Mythic Society, with the land in question falling within 18 kilometres of the BBMP limits violating the rules and despite the Finance Department raising objections for the approval of allotment of the land.

Hiremath in his complaint alleges that the 10 acres of land in question is in Avalahalli, survey No. 79 in Yelahanka Bangalore North Taluk totally measuring 103 acres. “The former CM, MLA, the DC – M.K. Aiyappa along with Tahasildar had favoured some people to get the Gomala land,” he stated in his complaint. As per the government value, the land is valued at Rs 60 lakh per acre, but the market value is Rs 3 crore.

In his complaint to the Lokayukta police, Hiremath stated that in an attempt to get the land allotted to Mythic Society, government officials and politicians had conspired for vested interests where the MLA writes a letter to DC in March 2011 placing a request for 10 acres of land to be allotted for Mythic Society Indology.

The activist’s contention is that if Mythic Society wants the land they can place a request themselves instead of the MLA requesting on their behalf. In July 2011, the DC writes to the government about the land required by Mythic Society and the government officials write back to DC in August 2011 stating that the proposed land is Gomala and cannot be allotted to any private individual or an organisation.

However, if the organisation provides audit and annual reports for 5 years along with activities conducted by the organisation, then it can be reviewed after the documents being acknowledged and signed by the DC and Tahsildar. In November 2011, DC furnishes requisite documents and submits a report where the under secretary to Finance Department raises objections seeking clarifications on the land allotment.
