Tangedco advisory to consumers

 

In an advisory to consumers to avoid electrical accidents in areas where power supply has been restored after the water has receded, Tangedco asked the public not to touch wet meter boxes, wet switches and wires. It also asked the consumers to check the internal wiring thoroughly by an electrician after the water had dried out. 

 

“If there is leakage in internal wiring, wet walls will give electric shock. If the wall was wet, switch off the mains and check for any leakage by an electrician before switching on,” the official release said, asking the public not to touch the electric poles, pillar boxes and street light poles.

 

People are also asked to inform the electricity department if they found any snapped overhead lines or spark in transformers or pillar boxes, it added.
