Elderly couple thrashed by youth in their shop in Chandigarh
Accused, reportedly under the influence of liquor, tried to misbehave with the woman.
Chandigarh: An elderly couple was allegedly thrashed by a youth in their shop at sector 18 in the city, police said on Friday.
The accused identified as Rajeev (21) allegedly entered the mobile shop run by Joginderpal Soni (58) and his wife Santhosh Kumari (56), and beat them up on Wednesday night, police said.
The police said that the accused, reportedly under the influence of liquor, tried to misbehave with the woman and when she resisted him, the accused slapped her, breaking her teeth.
When the woman's husband intervened, Rajeev also hit him, breaking his arm.
The accused, who is a driver by profession, was arrested, based on a complaint from the victim. The victim maintained that they had no personal enmity with the youth, who lives in their neighbourhood.
The couple was medically examined following which a case was registered against the youth, police said.
The entire sequence of events was recorded in the CCTV installed in the mobile shop.
