Bengaluru: Newly laid road dug up to fix BSNL line
Residents of Whitefield and surrounding areas have been fighting to get the bad roads fixed in their area.
BENGALURU: After coming across the sorry state of affairs caused by unauthorised digging on Old Airport Road, urban planner R. K. Misra exclaimed “Welcome to real Bengaluru”.
He told Deccan Chronicle that residents of Whitefield and surrounding areas have been fighting to get the bad roads fixed in their area. But these civic agencies, which lack co-ordination, have dug up recently laid road, putting the tax payers’ money down the drain.
“After learning that BSNL had dug up the road to fix their snapped line, I was determined to file an FIR with the police station. The road has been dug up near HAL traffic police station and BBMP office. Still no one has stopped it. After enquiring I learnt that BWSSB authorities who had come to fix the leakage had snapped the BSNL wire. This is such a vicious circle. Now, I am confused on whom to fix responsibility - BBMP, BWSSB or BSNL,” he said.
BWSSB authorities claim that they had no option but to fix the road. The question is why leakages happen at particular spot. Why can’t the BWSSB authorities fix the leakage permanently? Why are authorities involved in the game of spending money and digging up, Misra questioned.
The lack of co-ordination between different civic agencies is leaving the citizens frustrated and hapless.
