Kochi: DGP Jacob Thomas’s  recent statement on corrupt officials being elevated to higher posts is, in fact, a chargesheet against the state government, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.

“Such statements of  top government officials prove that the government is corrupt,” he told reporters here on Thursday.

The DGP had alleged the other day that one could become a chief secretary only if there were  at least three Vigilance cases  pending against him.

“There is total anarchy in the police administration. DGPs are making open statements as they have lost trust in the government system. And the state government has lost control over officials,” alleged the CPM leader.

Responding to queries on the bar bribe case, Mr Kodiyeri said that the special procedure called ‘primary inquiry’ was introduced exclusively for minister K. Babu to protect him.

“It is not fair that K. Babu remains in power while a quick verification is on against him. It is up to him whether to continue,” he said.
