Hyderabad: After waiver of taxes, the TRS government is wooing voters in the GHMC, especially the poor, with schemes like the 2BHK houses, basic amenities etc.
The TRS literally sounded the election bugle with a half-a-dozen-odd ministers and other party bigwigs, led by K.T. Rama Rao, hitting the city roads on Thursday.
They went on a foundation stone-laying spree for 10,000 2BHK houses in various localities of the twin cities besides other developmental works.
“Our priority is the poor. We have provided pensions, Kalyana Laxmi scheme and the 2BHK houses. We will give 10,000 such houses to the poor in Hyderabad and if needed, increase the same,” Mr Rama Rao said, the laying the foundation stone for the houses in Rasoolpura, Begumpet.
While the ministers were thus busy, other leaders welcomed new entrants to the party fold at Telangana Bhavan and asserted that the TRS would win GHMC polls like in Warangal. Incidentally, wherever the ministers went, they were besieged by the poor seeking the 2BHK houses.
“The CM has several schemes up his sleeves. We will do our best to fulfil our poll promises. We will try to provide 2BHK houses for every eligible person in 1,450 slums. If the demand is more, we will have a lottery to ensure transparency,” Mr Rama Rao said.
He cautioned people not to fall prey to brokers and touts for houses. Besides focusing on the 2BHK houses, now the trump card of TRS in every poll, Mr Rama Rao said CM plans to ease traffic snarls in Hyderabad and other programmes to make Hyderabad a “Dallas City”.
