Bodies of Mumbai artist, lawyer found dumped in cardboard boxes
A case had been registered and investigations are on in the gruesome murders.
Mumbai: The bodies of famous artist Hema Hirani Upadhyay and her lawyer were found packed in cardboard boxes in a drain in Mumbai’s Kandivali suburb on Saturday.
According to reports, the bodies were cut into pieces and then stuffed in cardboard boxes, which were then wrapped in plastic sheets.
The police managed to identify the bodies on Sunday and confirmed that the bodies belonged to the Baroda born artist and her lawyer Harsh Bhambani.
Harsh Bhambani had represented Hema in a harassment case she had filed against her husband, Chintan Upadhyay, who is also an artist.
In her complaint, which was filed in 2013, Hema had alleged that her husband painted obscene sketches of women on the walls of their matrimonial home in Mumbai.
The couple had married in 1998 and had filed for divorce in 2010.
'Considering present circumstances, it is a clear case of murder. Exact reason will be known only after post mortem,' said Vikram Deshpande, DCP Mumbai.
