Writer Satyamurthy passes away

The 61-year-old writer passed away in Chennai on Monday morning.

Popular film writer and well-known music director Devi Sri Prasad’s father Satyamurthy passed away early on Monday morning in Chennai. According to the family, the 61-year-old died of cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Satyamurthy had worked in over 90 Telugu films as a writer. His first film was Devatha. He had written some blockbusters for Chiranjeevi like Abhilasha, Kaidi No. 786, Challenge, etc.

He had also written Pedarayudu starring Mohan Babu. Satyamurthy had distanced himself from the industry in the last few years and had settled in Chennai with his sons Devi Sri Prasad and playback singer Sagar.

Balakrishna, in his condolence message, said, “He worked with me for Bhale Donga and Bangaru Bullodu and we had a good rapport. His sudden demise shocked me. The industry lost a good writer.”

Ram Charan posted on Facebook, “Saddened with the news of the demise of Satyamurthy Garu, a very affectionate and loving person. May lord give strength to his family. RIP Satyamurthy Garu.”

Ram Pothineni said, “Extremely sorry to hear about Devi Sri Prasad’s father. Strength to the family.”
