Hyderabad: Telangana Telugu Desam Party president L. Ramana has promised the Sultan Bazaar Traders Association that he would call a joint meeting of all political parties to discuss the traders’ opposition to the current alignment of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project (HMR).
A group of the association reiterated its stand that it wanted Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to stick to his promise and save the livelihood of the traders by re-routing the Metro Rail to avoid Sultan Bazaar.
Mr Ramana, along with BJP president Shobha Yadav, BJP ex-corporator Y. Krishna and many others were present at the meeting of all party leaders and traders of SBTA.
The traders are upset that despite the promise made to them, the original route of the Metro Rail is being followed.
Mr C. Madhusudhan, general secretary of SBTA, said, “We are once again requesting the government to save our livelihood and not displace us. We will also submit a memorandum to the governor to save the heritage market.”
