AAP, TMC protest outside Parliament against Delhi slum demolition
AAP govt ordered a magisterial inquiry into demolition drive and death of infant.
New Delhi: With Delhi government sparring with the Railways over demolition of a slum in the national capital, the AAP will raise the issue in both the Houses of Parliament, along with the JD(U) and TMC.
Party sources said while the AAP has moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, the matter will be raised in the Rajya Sabha by TMC and JD(U).
"We will be raising the issue in Lok Sabha. We have moved an adjournment motion and will also take it up in the Zero Hour. Our friends in the TMC and JD(U) will do the same in Rajya Sabha since we don't have any representation there," said a party spokesperson.
A fresh confrontation raged between the Arvind Kejriwal Government and Centre over the death of the infant girl at a slum cluster at Shakurbasti Railway Colony that was demolished by Railways on Saturday.
Enraged over a demolition drive that has been blamed for the death of the 6-month-old baby, Kejriwal on Monday said he has sought a meeting with Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu over the issue.
"Sought an appointment with Railway Minister, Sh Suresh Prabhu ji," Kejriwal wrote on Twitter.

Terming the incident as inhuman, Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain alleged the demolition was carried out "to teach a lesson" to these people who had voted for Arvind Kejriwal.
"Without making any alternative arrangements for them, their houses were demolished. The demolition was carried out to teach a lesson to these people who had voted for Arvind Kejriwal. In the process an infant girl has died and the post-mortem has revealed that she had received severe head injury and that her ribs had broken," said Jain.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Government has ordered magisterial enquiries into the demolition and also the death of a six month-old child.
Separate probe will be conducted into demolition drive and the child's death.
More than 500 slums were demolished in an anti-encroachment drive conducted by the Indian Railways in Shakur Basti on Saturday.
Slum residents created uproar after a child was found dead. They alleged that then child had died in the anti-encroachment drive.
The Railways have, however, denied the allegations saying that the death of the child occurred in one of the slums around 10 am and had nothing to do with the removal of encroachments.
